The pattern is now familiar. A promising pilot, an enthusiastic team, a demo that impresses everyone — and then a long pause on the way to production, while costs rise and the business case gets fuzzier. Gartner expects more than 40% of agentic AI projects to be cancelled by the end of 2027, mostly for unclear value and weak governance. In South Africa the stakes are sharpening: regulators have begun surveying AI adoption directly, and POPIA already constrains automated decisions about individuals.
The difference between enterprises that bank value from generative AI and those that stall is rarely the model. It is the delivery system around it: how use cases are chosen, how solutions are engineered and governed, and whether anyone can measure what changed. That is the work we do.
